From September 2015 to July 2017, I had the privilege of teaching several groups of exceptionally bright and engaged high school students at Shanghai ShiXi High School in the vibrant city of Shanghai, China. It was a rewarding experience, as my students were not only eager to learn but also deeply passionate about the visual arts. In May 2016, I decided to create a still-life painting as a practical demonstration for one of my classes. This piece illustrated the nuances of using oil paint, showcasing how to skillfully manipulate tints, tones, and shadows to achieve depth and realism. The joy of seeing my students grasp these concepts through the visual medium was truly fulfilling.
