(Li Sensei) Experimenting with Woodblock Printing in Japan from 2014 - 2015

From the vibrant spring of 2014 to the warm summer of 2015, I was fortunate enough to experience life in several enchanting small cities across Japan. I fell in love with the rich tapestry of Japanese culture, from the delicate artistry of Ukiyo-e prints to the tantalizing flavors of traditional cuisine and the melodic nuances of the language.

During my unforgettable time in Matsue, I immersed myself in the captivating realm of woodblock printing in my spare time. This traditional art form, with its intricate designs and historical significance, sparked my creativity and fascination and still does to this very day. Countless hours slipped away as I eagerly experimented with various techniques, exploring with an array of ideas and visual textures.

Below, you will find a collection of photographs that document my artistic experiments and the fascinating journey I embarked upon during that period.
