I am deeply honored and grateful to share that I was commissioned to create the cover artwork for the latest issue of TC Today, the alumni magazine of Teachers College, Columbia University. This annual publication is distributed in both print and digital formats to thousands of Teachers College alumni around the world, making this commission a particularly meaningful milestone in my career as both an artist and educator.
This opportunity came about through the recommendation of my doctoral dissertation sponsor, Dr. Judith M. Burton, whose mentorship has been instrumental throughout my doctoral studies. I am sincerely grateful for her confidence in my work and for opening the door to such a significant opportunity.
In addition to creating the commissioned cover artwork, I was honored to be featured in a profile article titled The Art of Ligel. The article reflects on my journey as a visual artist, educator, entrepreneur, and doctoral candidate, highlighting how my artistic practice and scholarship continue to inform one another. To have both my artwork and my story included in this publication is an honor that I will cherish for years to come.
As someone who believes in the transformative power of art, I find it incredibly rewarding to contribute to a publication that celebrates the achievements of the Teachers College community. This commission represents more than the creation of a painting—it symbolizes the intersection of creativity, education, mentorship, and service.
